MICHAEL J. SHANNON is an actor, writer, director and producer and was born in Chicago.

He attended Marian High School in Framingham , Massachusetts , Boston College in Chestnut Hill, and Northwestern University in Evanston , Illinois where he received a BS in Theatre Arts and an MA in Oral Interpretation.

Following graduation he served two years in the Army, the latter year at Headquarters Company, II Field Force, Vietnam .

His career as an actor includes BUTTERFLIES ARE FREE, both a National Tour and Broadway, FUTURE COP for Paramount Television, starring with Ernest Borgnine , WE’LL MEET AGAIN for London Weekend Television, starring with Susannah York, The Author of Beltraffio, a Henry James short story directed by Tony Scott for the BBC, EVERONE’S FRIEND at the Whitefire Theatre in Los Angeles, playing President Warren Harding as well as co-producing, and JFK ON JFK, at the Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood, a play which he wrote, produced, and starred in, as the late President John F. Kennedy.

Recently he revived his portrayal of Kennedy in the Theatre Forty production of WE’LL NEVER BE YOUNG AGAIN, a play adapted from their book of the same name by Chuck Fries and Irv Wilson.

Michael is married to actress and writer Vickery Turner. They have a daughter, Caitlin, who is following in the family business.
